Invisible Braces

Invisible braces are made of translucent polycrystalline alumina (TPA). The company Ceradyne developed TPA with help from NASA Advanced Ceramics Research. The TPA was used to protect the infrared antennae of heat-seaking missile trackers. Another company called Unitek realized TPA would be a great material to use in invisble braces since it was transulent and strong.
